Music for Queen Caroline, who supported Handel Handel spent almost half a century in London from around 1710 until his death in 1759. Queen Caroline (1683-1737) was Handel's devoted supporter during the first half of his life. Queen of King George II of England (1683-1760, reigned 1727-1760), she was an extremely popular queen. She knew Handel, who was two years younger than her, since she was still a young girl, and was always protective of him as he struggled with his Italian opera activities in London. Handel wrote many songs for Queen Caroline, three of the most famous of which are included here. King International.
