The Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) is one of ten major operational commands within the United States Air Force (USAF). Established on August 1, 1982, its primary role is to provide space capabilities to defend U.S. and allied interests, as well as to offer satellite communications, navigation, missile warning, and other space-based services. The AFSPC manages over 70 operational satellites and employs approximately 35,000 military personnel across the globe. Its headquarters are located at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
